Home<Denver RTD Light Rail<27th & Welton
27th & Welton is the most simple street running station I know of located on the Central Corridor Line, Denver's original Light Rail Line that opened in 1994. The stop is located at street level on the single-track line down the SE side of Welton Street through the Five Points Neighborhood. The platform is between 27th and 28th Streets (there is just one block before the next stop) and is along the sidewalk, which does get a tactile warning strip. ADA access is provided via the standard mini-high platforms, but these are across from the actual platforms on a very narrow stretch of sidewalk between the tracks and parked cars. The sidewalk at the station is completely exposed with no awnings. There are just some TVMs and Information posts with the system map. The stop has some unique and completely basic station signage as well such as a simple signpost directing passengers to the ramps for northbound and southbound trains.
